Management Team

Sergei Varshavsky, MD, PhD - Chairman and CEO, founded EVIDENCE in 1989 with the specific objective to create a world class organization for clinical trails in Russia, and to introduce Good Clinical Practices standard into Russian clinical trials. Today under his leadership EVIDENCE operates in Russia and Eastern European countries, with Head Quarters in California, USA. From the beginning Dr. Varshavsky's personal involvement in every aspect of the clinical trail process assured the highest quality of work, strict adherence to the standards, and a particular brand of dedication that our sponsors came to associate with EVIDENCE CPR. Dr. Varshavsky's earlier experience included acting as a National Coordinator for the large-scale multinational cardiovascular trials such as  EMIP, EMIP-FR, FRAXIS, HERO-2, MAGIC, VALIANT, CARISA, ERICA, ExTRACT TIMI-25 and MERLIN TIMI-36. He was the first in Russia to recognize the importance of Quality of Life research, and the first to conduct a Quality of Life studies in Russian Federation. He personally supervised cultural adaptation of many still widely used today Quality of Life instruments. Dr. Varshavsky is a member of a many international medical associations, and is the author of over 40 publications. Dr. Varshavsky frequently speaks at professional venues, and makes numerous public appearances. Dr. Varshavsky holds a Medical Degree from I.P.Pavlov Medical University, and a Ph.D. from the Postgraduate Medical Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia.

Efim Kelman, MD, MBA - President, joined EVIDENCE in 1995. He is responsible for running successful operation of EVIDENCE clinical trails in Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as hands-on management on the large-scale, multinational, multi-center clinical studies. He brings outstanding leadership skills, and ability to maintain effective communication with sites and medical peers. He has superior understanding of the complexities involved in running of large-scale trials including regulatory submissions, logistics of study drug and biological samples, patient recruitment, coordination and monitoring strategy in Russia and Eastern Europe. He maintains his up-to-date education in GCP standards, as well as in advanced project management techniques. Prior to joining EVIDENCE Efim Kelman MD had a noteworthy medical career, with specialization in cardiology. He holds a Medical Degree from Pavlov Medical University in Russia, and an MBA from Stockholm School of Economics. He is an author of many articles published in scientific and medical journals worldwide.

Olga Loginovskaya, MD - Vice-President of Operations, is responsible for performance of seven departments at EVIDENCE including Clinical Services, Logistics, Drug and Clinical Supply Depot, Regulatory, Training and Safety Departments, and Translations.  Olga Loginovskaya has been with EVIDENCE since its inception. She had started her tenure as a CRA and a Lead Monitor, and then continued as a Project Manager on a number of multinational studies, including ESPRIM, TRISTAN, IVAN, HA002. Her organizational talent and the ability to handle complex processes, next led her assuming the position of the first Head of EVIDENCE Quality Assurance Department, that she helped to establish. Olga Loginovskaya graduated with Honors from Pavlov Medical University, St Petersburg, and has completed a fellowship in cardiology at St. Petersburg Research Institute of Cardiology, where she worked prior to joining EVIDENCE.

Antonina Nabokova, MD is Managing Director of our St. Petersburg office. She received her medical degree at the Pavlov Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1987. Dr. Nabokova joined EVIDENCE in 2002. Her duties include supervising management of local operations and human resources. Prior to joining EVIDENCE, Dr. Nabokova held senior management positions with several international and Russian corporations. As part of her continuing professional development, Dr. Nabokova attended GCP and management courses in the field of clinical research management.

Svetlana Timofeeva, MD, PhD heads our Moscow office. Dr. Timofeeva earned her medical degree at the Moscow Medical Academy and her Ph.D. at the State Research Center for Preventive Medicine in Moscow, Russia. She joined EVIDENCE in 1999 and has since been personally involved in all clinical trial activities. Her vast experience, extensive knowledge of local requirements, and excellent management skills are instrumental in her obtaining study approvals in the shortest time possible by smoothly negotiating the often complex regulatory web.

Elena Ulyanets, MD, Managing Director, Ukrainian Office, Kharkov. Elena Ulyanets joined EVIDENCE in 2004 to manage the first long term study ever to be conducted in the Ukraine on in the treatments for Chronic Hepatitis C; and later to establish EVIDENCE operations office in Kharkov. She is currently in charge of running day-to day operations, as well as new employee training and local Clinical Affairs. Prior to joining EVIDENCE, she had gained several years of experience as a CRA/PM, and acquired excellent managerial skills working on complex projects. Elena Ulyanets is a graduate of Kharkov State Medical University.

Tamara Tchelidze, MD is a Head of Georgian office in Tbilisi. She received her medical degree at the Tbilisi Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1996. Dr. Tamara Tchelidze is a Neurologist who worked as Neurologist from 1996 to 1999. From 1999 to 2002 Dr.Tchelidze worked as Scientific Collaborator at the National Centre of Pharmacoviligance. Dr. Tchelidze joined EVIDENCE in 2002 and since that time has been personally involved and supervised all clinical trial activities (including regulatory submissions, logistics of study drugs and biological samples, pharmacy, patient recruitment)
